One-to-Ones
If you're only looking for an outside cheerleader to tell you what a great job you're doing managing your business, then the one-to-one sessions with TEC Chairs aren't for you.
A little 'pat on the back' and positive support from an outside expert can be wonderful. But TEC's goal is to improve the lives and business effectiveness of its members. And to achieve that goal, the group chairs challenge each member in their group to improve performance, push them when they're dragging their feet and hold them accountable. Resting on your laurels is not an option, whether in the group or monthly one-to-one meeting that is part of the TEC experience.
"It's a no holds barred, frank, open discussion," said one TEC member about her chair. "He's not signing my paycheck. There are no internal constraints or hesitations – just an open relationship to help me do better."
TEC Chairs are highly skilled professionals and many are former CEOs with years of experience in senior management positions. The typical group chair has seen almost any business or personal challenge any executive could encounter, either directly or through ongoing exposure to other chairs, and has received facilitation and coaching training through TEC, enabling them to be effective sounding boards. They have the entire chair network and other TEC resources behind them to put individual issues into context.
